“PATAAN” (pronounced pa-tan) is a Japanese word for “pattern” and is a critical element in Japanese design. Japan is a pallet of visual pattern and texture. From the meticulously raked zen garden; to architecture; to the palette of food; the Japanese approach to design has historically been linear and asymmetrical, with texture and elements deeply emphasized creating a visual display of depth and variety. Shizen-Pattan is a perfect texturing medium for creating subtle to bold textures on both interior and exterior surfaces. Modern day, water base acrylic formula with extremely low VOC content, Pataan applies easily, quickly, and holds sharp clean lines of pattern with outstanding hardness.

Koruku w/h Processed Rice Straw




“Koruku” (pronounced co-roo-ku) is a Japanese word for “cork”.
The Koruku mixture is trowel applied over a scratch coat of Koruku Zero VOC Undercoat to create a soft cushion finish that creates a healthy, and serene environment.
Cork’s tiny air spaces it is an excellent thermal insulation and heat retention material resulting in energy savings. It also absorb and reduce noises resulting in great sound insulation. Other attribute of material is its ability to control humidity and it is naturally mildew resistant.

This material is a mixture of natural soil, sand, stone, and crashed sea shells, and with an extremely low VOC containing acrylic solution, KAI creates a natural pearl-like glittering texture finish. KAI provides outstanding hardness and a strong resistance to mold and mildew. This technique may be ideal in the area where it has a higher humidity such as bathrooms.
